Dr. Kayla Golan

Associate Veterinarian, EVS Pet Urgent Care of Northbrook

Dr. Golan was born and raised in Deerfield, IL and is excited to be back on the North Shore serving the community she grew up in.  Dr. Golan’s lifelong love of animals began early.  Thanks to her mom, a veterinary technician and wildlife rehabber, much of her childhood was spent helping feed and care for injured and orphaned wildlife, which sparked her passion for healing, instilled in her a deep respect for all creatures and laid a foundation for her future career.

She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona in 2007, obtaining a double B.S. in Wildlife Sciences and Veterinary Sciences, and earned her Veterinary Degree in 2011 at the University of Illinois and has been dedicated to animal health ever since.

With over 14 years of extensive experience in exotic animal practice and several years in small animal primary care clinics in Chicago, Dr. Golan brings an understanding of both common and uncommon species to her care.

Dr. Golan’s veterinary approach is rooted in her passion for healing - blending traditional medicine with integrative therapies to support the patient’s recovery and overall well -being.  She holds advanced certifications in veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic and canine rehabilitation and massage.

Now joining the EVS team, Dr. Golan is especially excited to offer urgent care services for exotics pets, an often-underserved group in veterinary medicine, recognizing how important timely care is for these species, that often only show signs of illness once their condition is already critical.

In practice, Dr. Golan is known for building trusted relationships with clients and prioritizing client education.  She believes that empowering pet owners through knowledge strengthens the human-animal bond and leads to better outcomes for both pets and their people.

At home, she shares her life with her two young children, a loyal German Shepherd (Duke), A Chahoua gecko (Fireflame), two Bearded Dragons (Thelma and Louise), and a charming Regal Jumping Spider named Adventure.  If Dr. Golan had free time, she would spend it seeing live music, gardening or getting lost in a good audiobook or podcast.
