What Makes EVS Pet Urgent Care Different?

After two decades in veterinary medicine, my journey has taken me through nearly every corner of the profession—new graduate, associate, practice owner, relief vet in both shelter and emergency medicine. EVS Pet Urgent Care was born out of that experience. It’s not just a business model; it’s my story.
I’ve seen what works—and what doesn’t. I’ve felt the exhaustion of skipped lunches, the frustration of late nights, the sting of feeling unappreciated, and the constant internal pressure of never feeling like you’re doing enough. But I’ve also felt the magic: the moments of connection, the successful outcomes, and the unwavering passion for helping animals and the people who love them.
EVS is my way of doing things differently. Even if "it’s always been done that way," we’re asking: Could it be better?
Our Why
Ask any veterinarian why they chose this field, and very few will say it was for the paycheck. We do it because we love animals. We do it because we’re driven by science, compassion, and the need to give a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves.
But over time, that original spark can dim. The daily grind wears us down, and the reason we started can get buried beneath the pressures of the job. At EVS, we work to rediscover that spark—for every member of our team, and for every client who walks through our doors.
A Different Kind of Veterinary Care
For pet owners, that difference is felt from the first moment of contact. At EVS, we treat your pet like our own. We take the time to explain what we find during exams, why we recommend certain diagnostics, what treatment options are available—including what supportive care can look like when diagnostics aren’t feasible—and what to expect every step of the way.
We ensure our clients understand the why behind every decision:
Why a test was recommended.
What a medication does and what side effects to watch for.
What happens next—whether that’s returning to your primary vet, a specialist referral, or ongoing care with us.
